Our Patients Speak
Equestrian Mom
I came to Dr. Kojis with migraines for the first time during my pregnancy and he not only helped me get rid of them but made my last trimester a breeze. I even rode a lawn mower the day before I delivered! I now see Dr. Kojis on regular basis as it very much helps me in my riding. As an added bonus, my increased flexibility and range of motion has made my horse move much better as well. It is amazing how much irregularities in our bodies can affect us! I have seen other chiropractors for different issues in the past but they can hardly compare to Dr. Kojis. His staff is also well trained and very helpful.

A Family Affair
Our family first came to see Dr. Kojis in August 2008. At that time, our 15-year-old daughter was experiencing severe pain in her back and leg. She was unable to walk or do basic daily tasks without assistance. Dr. Kojis was specifically recommended for his gentle-touch approach. Being unfamiliar with chiropractic care in general, this was encouraging to us all.
Within the first couple of visits, our daughter's pain had greatly diminished and she continues under Dr. Kojis' care to correct long-standing problems with her spine.
Watching her rapid improvement and Dr. Kojis' patient, calm approach to working with her prompted me to ask him about my own back and neck pain and stiffness. It appears that these problems have developed over a long time but on my very first visit with Dr. Kojis, the pain and stiffness in my jaw were eliminated. More amazingly, they have never returned! I continue to see Dr. Kojis to work on improving a limetime's worth of back problems but have found a significant improvement in my flexibility and strength. The pain and stiffness are also greatly reduced.
While my daughter and I were the first in our family to consult Dr. Kojis, several others have also been in for neck and back issues. They, too, have found that his approach helps relieve immediate pain and continues to remedy the underlying problems in a comfortable environment. An added enjoyment had been our 5-year-old's keen interest in observing all that Dr. Kojis does. He has the makings of a very young apprentice!
To those who wonder if chiropractic care may be helpful in relieving pain and discomfort, I highly recommend a consultation with Dr. Kojis. And, I hope your experience proves as positive as our family's has been.

A Mother's Story
Before my son Anthony started with Dr. Kojis, he wasn't sleeping well, up at least five times every single night. Nothing seemed to make any difference. Now he's the best sleeper in the world! He loves his adjustments-- he often gets so relaxed, he falls asleep on the adjusting table. From one mother to another, bring your kids in to be checked, even if you think there's nothing wrong. It's a good feeling to know they're doing their best. -- Rovawn Spellman

Riding High
I've been riding dressage for over 30 years. I've learned that the more I can stay out of my horse's way, the better they can do their job. So much is knowing what I'm doing with my body, how I'm carrying my tension and how I'm blocking my horse because of it. I have always been stiff to the left, having more difficulty connecting with my left seat bone and leg and taking more effort to bring my left shoulder around to the left. After probably the second or third session with Dr. Kojis, I could feel a noticeable difference in my horses. They seemed more relaxed. The adjustments have made me much more supple to the left and more even from side to side. So I am more balanced when I ride, and the horses love it! --Amy Kendis

Flowing Energy
I was working in a warehouse and driving and I had lifted something wrong and had a sciatic nerve injury in my lower right back. Over time it got progressively worse. If I drove for a long time my right leg would start to become numb. So I heard about Dr. Kojis and started coming in and after awhile there was marked improvement. The job I had started at that point was a sit-down job so there was definitely a chronic issue. I basically don’t get any of the numbness even when I drive really long distances. I stopped coming in for a time, but now I’m coming to help me get more in touch with my body and deal with a lot of stored pain. It helps keep the energy flowing. It also helps the tinnitus I occasionally have in my left ear. When I first came back it was a really serious problem in both ears, and it was keeping me up at night. That was something that just built up over time. I don’t have symptoms like that anymore, and as long as I’m getting adjustments it’s basically not a problem. It will go away totally for a while and come back for a bit, so I notice it but it’s not anything that keeps me up. Just about everyone could benefit from seeing a chiropractor, especially with people working in office jobs where you’re not moving a lot or doing repetitive movements. Definitely for me I see it as an energy flow issue, and it helps me with things that I work on in my meditation too. It seems indispensable to me right now.

A New Man
I started care with Dr. Kojis two months
ago. I had a series of issues with my health including severe tingling
and numbness in my hands, back ailments, especially my lower back, bowel and
urinary issues, and painful walking. Previously I had sought medical,
massage therapy and acupuncture assistance with limited success.

Now my overall physical
health and well being is good. I have had resolution of my initial issues
and am in better physical condition as a result of working with Dr. Kojis.
My quality of life is better in that I now have the energy and physical ability
to walk our dogs more vigorously and generally feel better.
I would recommend that people with physical issues consider chiropractic care
as practiced by Dr. Kojis to see if their overall quality of life can also be
improved.
I appreciated Dr. Kojis's sense of humor, understanding, gentleness, and willingness
to apply his suberb skills to a situation that had not had success with other
modalities.

A Great Relief
For 40 years, I had discomfort and pain in my neck and back. My sleep was disrupted by this discomfort-- I was sleeping about an hour at a time. After the third visit with Dr. Kojis, I have slept for seven hours every night, no pain, no discomfort, and no medications. My overall quality and enjoyment of life has improved almost 100 per cent! I can sit where I want to in church and feel comfortable, rather than having to sit on one side and hold my head. If anyone has a problem like I had they should try and see what Dr. Kojis can do for them. -- Velma Skogset, age 101

Walking Again
I was in a wheelchair when I
started with Dr. Kojis in 1997. I had gone to my doctor, and he told me
he couldn't do anything for me, and to go to a chiropractor. Now I'm
out of the wheelchair, and I'm getting along pretty good. I can go up
stairs now, I can get out and go on the bus, I can go shopping, go to
my son's, out to eat with friends, lots of things. If it wasn't for Dr.
Kojis, I'd still be in a wheelchair, if not worse. He's keeping me
going! I just celebrated my 96th birthday.
My advice-- go to a chiropractor if you have back or joint troubles.
Don't depend on a doctor, they can't do anything for you, in my opinion. -- Charleen Cooney

Back to Health
When I first started seeing Dr.
John I had chronic back pain and occasional shortness of breath. I
would toss and turn some nights trying to sleep. I was not able to walk
long distances-- I could not even walk the length of the mall without
having to sit down and rest my back. It was difficult for me to get my
breath sometimes and therefore made it difficult to be active.
Previously I had visited one other chiropractor who used different
techniques that really did not help me. The pain would be alleviated
briefly, but not permanently or consistently. I also tried doing some
stretches that would temporarily alleviate the pain, but never did
anything to help for more than a few hours to maybe a day at a time.
Since I began seeing Dr. John I now can walk long distances, including
the length of the mall with no problem. I no longer experience
shortness of breath and overall physically I feel better.
After my original immediate symptoms were resolved I continued to see
Dr. John on a regular schedule, which continues presently. It is
through these regular visits that my overall well-being has improved
remarkably. My body now starts self-adjusting when the stress or
environment becomes too much. I am rarely ever sick and if I do come
down with something, it is not nearly as severe as it once used to be.
My whole body just works better through continuing Chiropractic care. -- Nathan Bielas, age 26

Getting a Handle
I came to Dr. Kojis with
constant tingling and numbness in my left hand extending up to my
shoulder along with burning pain between my shoulder blades, aching in
my neck, and tingling in my right hand off and on. The medical doctors
said I had carpal tunnel syndrome because of the work I do. In spite of
a wrist splint, two cortisone injections, and lots of Motrin, I kept
getting worse for more than two years.
Dr. Kojis has done a wonderful job for me. The burning in my shoulders
is completely gone, and I have just a slight tingling in my hands off
and on. I'm better overall mentally and physically, and I have more
energy. And because of the adjustments, I've been able to keep working. -- Diane Guertzgen, LPN

Nothing to Lose
When a friend of mine suggested I visit Dr. Kojis, I had been experiencing excruciating headaches, neck and back pain every day for months. I would say that on a scale of 1-10, my low back pain was a 9 and my neck, upper back, and shoulder pain was about a 7. I had been taking epidural shots in my lower back and very strong pain pills to try and lessen my discomfort, but my underlying pain was still there and was making it hard to do my daily activities. I was somewhat skeptical that Dr. Kojis would be able to help me at all, and I had seen a chiropractor before and couldn’t take all the cracking. But my friend told me that Dr. Kojis had a different style that didn’t hurt at all, so I agreed to go to one of the Tuesday night classes at the office. I guess after that I decided I didn’t have anything to lose by giving it a try. I began visiting Dr. Kojis three times a week, and my overall pain was reduced to about a 2 on a 1 to 10 scale. Today, which is about 4 months after I started, I don’t need to take my epidural shots or strong medication. Now I come in once a week for a “tune-up” visit that keeps me feeling good. My pain no longer rules my life activities; I can travel comfortably and play more golf, and I’m just a much happier person to be around. My advice to other people considering coming in to see Dr. Kojis would be to just try it! I recommend him to other people, and tell them that they should just give this treatment the opportunity to work for them. I can’t see that you have anything to lose if you’re in pain... other than the pain! -- Lois Vogt, Converted Skeptic

Reconnected
I would highly recommend Dr.
Kojis to others, and I do all the time. Three years ago I couldn't get
out of bed because of the deep throbbing leg pain that would pulsate
with my heartbeat and would wake me at night. It took several months of
care before the throbbing went away, but meanwhile other things began
to happen. At first my spastic colon symptoms started to worsen,
seeming to reach a peak, and then started to improve, with less and
less frequent symptoms.
I now feel much more in tune with my body, mind, and spirit, feeling
calmer and able to take things in stride. I am back to my daily walking
exercise which helps eliminate other stress-related health problems. My
breathing has improved, and I am more conscious of breathing deeply to
relax and cleanse my body. In short, I enjoy life so much more--
chiropractic care has opened the channels for my body to heal itself. -- Vickie DuPont

Advice for the Skeptic
When I started with Dr. Kojis I
had severe lower back pain, difficulty walking, and cracking and
popping in my neck and jaw. Walking and stretching didn't help.
Osteopathic manipulations didn't help. Muscle relaxers and pain pills
didn't help. Now, after a couple of months I have almost no more noise
in my neck and jaw, my back feels great, and walking is a pleasure
again. I'm feeling much better overall and able to handle the stress
load of caring full time for a disabled child.
The diagnostic tools Dr. Kojis uses really helped boost my confidence
in knowing my initial condition and in charting my progress. This type
of chiropractic care is unique in this way-- there's no guessing about
what's wrong and when you're making progress. Friends in other areas of
health care are impressed by the objective results and thorough care.
This dimension brings the elusive "feeling better" and "where am I out"
questions to a clearer level. The guesswork is gone and I've benefitted.
So don't wait as long as I did to seek chiropractic care. Even though
my insurance wouldn't cover the costs, my health really depended on
this help. Listen to your body and participate in your own care by
walking and taking care of yourself. Plan on getting better. Celebrate
your victories. -- Nancy Zink, Master Gardener

Return to Life
I was a mess, with intense
fatigue, numbness in my midback, legs, and arms, and several severe
chronic illnesses. Worst of all was my inability to participate in life
the way I wanted to-- it was like sitting on the sidelines watching my
life slip away... After numerous medical workups and treatments without any positive results, I started care with Dr. Kojis.
Things have changed! I now have absolutely no numbness anywhere, my
chronic illnesses are in remission, and my endurance and stamina have
increased dramatically. I'm now able to participate in my life and
actively seek out and experience new and old interests. I also have an
awareness of the "connectedness" of all the parts of my body and my
mind, and feel more of an opening to spirit.
Dr. Kojis has been invaluable to me in the furthering of this journey.
He's a great resource for exploring my interests, and his intuition,
gentleness, and patience are a wonderful gift. -- Laurie Serell-Homan, Occupational Therapist

Moving Ahead
I have been a client of Dr. Kojis on and off for 20 years for a chronic neck condition. This past year, due to my age and increased stress levels, I began experiencing systemic arthritic symptoms. Returning to Kojis Chiropractic a few months ago, I noticed significant relief of joint pain and increased energy moving through my body. Today the joints in my hands, neck, and back feel softer and freer. I feel that working with John is having a profound effect on my overall health. I appreciate John's holistic approach. He trusts his intuition, as well as his highly-developed chiropractic skills, to be sensitive to what my body needs in the moment. I totally believe that Dr. Kojis has achieved an impressive level of mastery as a healer, and I value him as a trusted partner in my health. --Mary Salomon, Movement Educator
